New Vice President of Montreal's oldest deli unites old school quality with modern times

Andrew Kligman recently took over the role of VP of his family-owned chain of Dunn's Famous restaurants

MONTRÉAL, Oct. 19, 2015 /CNW Telbec/ - Andrew Kligman, great grandson of the original restaurateur Myer Dunn, who opened the very first Dunn's Famous franchise in Montreal in 1927, recently took over the role of VP of his family-run business, 88 years after the first location opened. Elliot Kligman, his father, is acting President of the historical restaurant chain.

Dunn's Famous Montreal deli is renowned for its smoked meat sandwiches above all, but serves a wide variety of non smoked meat delicacies as well, and has long enjoyed a reputation for sustained authenticity and quality even in the face of changing times and a rapidly shifting industry.

Kligman is a graduate of Concordia University's John Molson School of Business with a degree in Marketing.

"I am humbled to be given this role at Dunn's, and hope to influence this company in a positive direction. The challenge will be to preserve our history and tradition, while trying to stay relevant in today's fast-paced industry. I have a great role model in my father, who is guiding me to make the right decisions."

In their efforts to make the old-time, friendly diner accessible to a new generation of restaurant-goers, Dunn's has created a new website,, complete with a mobile version, and established a social media presence with new Facebook and Twitter accounts to reach a wider variety of people from all generations. In addition, Dunn's has revamped their logo to better emphasize the "Est. 1927," in order to bank on a type of credibility that is all-too-rare these days: a long history of good decisions and satisfied customers.

Kligman has more upcoming plans for his changing business. "I want to expand our product offering at the retail level. We've proven for ten years that we can produce quality products for Costco shoppers. We are working on a new line of products that customers can soon enjoy in the comfort of their homes."
