New agreement in place between Greyhound Canada Transportation and the Amalgamated Transit Union, Local 1415 Français
OTTAWA, Oct. 4, 2013 /CNW/ - The Honourable Dr. K. Kellie Leitch, Minister of Labour and Minister of Status of Women, congratulated Greyhound Canada and the Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU), Local 1415, on reaching an agreement that has been ratified by the union membership.
"I am pleased that Greyhound Canada and ATU have reached an agreement with the help of a federal mediator," said Minister Leitch. "Strong labour management relations are critical to maintaining healthy work places and building a strong and prosperous Canadian economy."
Greyhound Canada Transportation is the largest provider of inner-city bus transportation in Canada, serving nearly 1,100 locations and 6.5 million passengers each year. The previous collective agreement covering a unit of approximately 420 bus drivers working in the Eastern Division expired on June 30, 2013.
The Labour Program's Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service provides dispute resolution and prevention assistance to trade unions and employers under the Canada Labour Code.
