RICHMOND, BC, March 5, 2015 /CNW/ - Vancouver Airport Authority and key partner agencies will participate in a security exercise at Vancouver International Airport (YVR) tonight, March 5, from 8:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. The security exercise will not affect operations at YVR.
The exercise will take place in an area of the terminal that is isolated from the travelling public but people may hear gunshot-like sounds, loud shouting, notice a large presence of first responders from multiple agencies and may see actors wearing makeup to simulate injuries.
No spokespeople will be available during the exercise and the site will not be accessible to media or public during this time. If you are interested in speaking with someone from YVR about our emergency preparedness and planning, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org to schedule an interview at a later date.
Safety of the travelling public, employees and community is paramount. Live exercises are one component of YVR's emergency preparedness plan and helps our team practice and remain prepared in the unlikely event of an incident.
