In May, Let's Act Together to End Multiple Sclerosis!

MONTREAL, April 29, 2016 /CNW Telbec/ - May is Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Awareness Month! In addition to being the ideal occasion to raise public awareness of this neurological disease, May also marks the start of the big events season for the Quebec Division of the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada, and there are many opportunities to take action.

Patricia Paquin, television host and spokesperson for MS Awareness Month for the first time, announced: "All these small actions change the course of events for the 20,000 Quebecers and the 100,000 Canadians with MS, including my big sister Caroline. I'm counting on you to help us use the power of the flower and move closer to a future without MS. Thank you so much for your commitment!"

From May 5 to 7, the MS Carnation Campaign is on. From one end of the province to the other, Mother's Day is the time to buy a carnation or give someone a bouquet to support the 20,000 Quebecers with multiple sclerosis.

The tenth Women Against Multiple Sclerosis (WAMS) gala luncheon will be held at the Hyatt Regency Montreal on May 13. Created in 2006 by and for women, WAMS unites professional women from different backgrounds who capitalize on their networks for the cause. We will be honouring Senator Céline Hervieux-Payette, PC, for her outstanding professional achievements.

On May 25, the whole world will show its solidarity with the cause on World MS Day.

Finally, on May 29, the MS Walk will be the event where we take another step to end MS, in company with actor Debbie Lynch-White, who will walk in the Montreal event.

About multiple sclerosis (MS)
Canada has the highest rate of multiple sclerosis in the world. MS is a chronic, often disabling, central nervous system disease, which attacks the brain, spinal cord and optic nerves. It is one of the most widespread neurological disorders affecting young adults in Canada. It is diagnosed most often in people aged 15 to 40 years old, who will live with the unpredictable effects for the rest of their lives. The Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada provides services for people with MS and their families and funds research with the aim of discovering the cause of MS and finding a cure.
