Hot Temperatures Are Not an Excuse to Trespass

Stay Clear and Stay Safe this Labour Day Weekend

TORONTO, Sept. 1, 2016 /CNW/ - Labour Day is approaching, and as we savour what is left of summer, Ontario Power Generation (OPG) reminds you that our generating facilities are no place for recreation.

"We have had a very hot summer and water levels are lower in many areas, which can make the water around our dams and stations look inviting," says Mike Martelli, OPG's President of Renewable Generation and Power Marketing. "But these areas are never safe. They can be dangerous and conditions can change quickly. Low water levels can also expose shoals and other underwater hazards. So please stay clear and stay safe."

Trespassing around OPG stations or dams is illegal. Those caught trespassing can be charged and face hefty fines.
