Economical advancing diversity and inclusion

WATERLOO, ON, Sept. 15, 2016 /CNW/ - Canadians are fortunate to live in one of the most diverse pluralist societies on earth. Diversity in Canada extends beyond race and ethnicity. "At the end of September, we are bringing together a group of leaders and employees representative of the diversity at Economical, to build the foundation of a diversity and inclusion strategy that we will launch in early 2017," said Taylor Green.

"We believe we are stronger together when our unique perspectives, shaped by our experiences and backgrounds, are valued and appreciated," added Taylor Green. "By leveraging diversity, we can build an even more inclusive workplace that enables employees to contribute fully to organizational success. A workforce that is reflective of the customers we serve will enable us to understand our customer base and position us as an industry leader."

The session will feature a keynote address by Olympic champion Mark Tewksbury on the value of diverse perspectives and how unconscious bias hampers progress and innovation. Bill McLean, Partner, People and Organization Consulting at PwC, will also talk about the value of diversity and inclusion to an organization and will speak to some of the latest research and leading practices.

We believe that fully embracing diversity will help us attract and retain top talent, lower turnover, and enhance productivity."
