The NACC welcomes the Standing Senate Committee on Transport and Communications report on the future of canadian air travel

OTTAWA, June 5, 2012 /CNW/ - The National Airlines Council of Canada (NACC) welcomes the Standing Senate Committee on Transport and Communications report on the future growth and global competitiveness of Canada's airports.  The report recognizes that airport rents and other charges and fees are undermining the competitiveness of Canada's aviation sector.

"We are pleased that the Senate Committee recognizes there is an urgent need to stop treating the aviation industry as a source of revenue and start treating it as an engine that drives Canada's economy, trade and tourism.  We also welcome the recommendation to develop a cohesive National Air Travel Policy that is necessary to enable the aviation sector to play its strategic and supportive role for economic development", said George Petsikas, President of the NACC.

The National Airlines Council of Canada is a trade association founded by Canada's largest commercial airlines in order to ensure safe, sustainable and competitive air travel for Canadian consumers.
