Military convoys in the Halifax area

VALCARTIER GARRISON, QC, June 16, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - Between June 15 and 18, Halifax residents may see over 200 soldiers and around 20 military vehicles crossing town to reach the harbour as part of a military exercise that will take place in the Gulf of Saint Lawrence from June 18 to June 22.

ROAD MOVEMENT

The road convoys, consisting of around 20 military vehicles, will travel on Quebec and New Brunswick roads, arriving in Halifax, Nova Scotia, between June 15 and 18. The movement schedule is subject to change. It involves one-way travel to the Halifax Harbour, as the soldiers and their equipment will be returning to Québec City by ship aboard the BPC MISTRAL.

Exercise LION MISTRAL

Exercise LION MISTRAL is a joint amphibious training exercise between the Canadian Armed Forces and the French Navy. Canadian soldiers, mainly from 1 Battalion, Royal 22e Régiment, based in Valcartier near Québec City, will pass through the Halifax Harbour between June 15 and 18. They will board the BPC MISTRAL, a French Navy ship. The French ships will set sail on June 18 for Québec City.
