INO awarded for its successes in the field of technology commercialization

QUEBEC CITY, May 22, 2014 /CNW/ - The National Optics Institute (INO) announced today that it received the Celestica Award for Technology Commercialization from the Canadian Advanced Technology Alliance (CATAAlliance), the largest high-tech association in Canada, at the 29th Innovation and Leadership Awards Gala on May 21 at Carleton University in Ottawa.

Technology transfer and marketing of innovations

The Celestica Award recognizes the efforts of technology companies whose products have been commercialized through the use of advanced manufacturing and innovative electronics. Over the past 25 years, INO's innovations have resulted in the creation of 29 companies, which are still going strong today. The success of these startups is based not only on the technology developed, but also on how it is transferred to the industry and then marketed as products. This award recognizes INO's efforts and know-how in this area.

"Our Award winners and finalists have each demonstrated significant leadership as role models for the development of commercially successful enterprises in Canada. CATA is proud to act as an advocate for them, to share their stories, and to provide a platform of programs and services to assist in fostering their growth," says John Reid, President and CEO, CATAAlliance.

"We are very proud to receive this award, which recognizes INO's commitment to high-tech creation in Canada," said Jean-Yves Roy, President and CEO of INO. "I would like to recognize the ongoing efforts of our team of nearly 200 researchers and support staff who, through their hard work and passion for the technologies of light, are the ones driving our national success. This honor belongs mainly to them," he added.
