Video contests asks youth to share what it means to be a Canadian
PAQUETVILLE, NB, Oct. 22, 2013 /CNW/ - The Collectivité ingénieuse de la Péninsule acadienne (CIPA) is pleased to announce the official launch of Here is Canada: The Road to 2017!, a national video contest that seeks to engage 19 to 25-year old young Canadians from across the country. To enter participants will be asked to create a video that shares what it means to be a young Canadian for a chance to win a grand prize of $5,000. Here is Canada: The road to 2017 is funded by the "Youth Take Charge" program at Canadian Heritage and received a financial contribution of $160,000.
"The contest is designed to showcase the creativity of young Canadians and to drive them to explore the rich heritage of their country, said Vikie Thériault, Project Manager, CIPA. "We hope that this contest inspires youth to become more aware about what it means to be Canadian and how our history has shaped the country we live in today."
To participate in the contest, young Canadians have been asked to develop a short video that shares what it means to be a young adult in Canada today. As a part of the video submissions entrants will be asked to examine the impact of historical milestones on the Canada we live in today. Participants will submit their original videos on the contest website hereiscanada.ca, where they will be available for viewing and sharing.
The jury will then select the top ten entries and determine a grand prize winner who will receive $5,000. The other nine finalists will each receive prizes between $500 and $1,000. Approximately $5,000 in additional prizes will be used for promotional purposes throughout the contest.
The contest begins today and runs until February 19, 2014. The contest is open to legal residents of Canada who are age 19 to 25. For full contest rules and details, visit: www.voicilecanada.ca and www.hereiscanada.ca.
