Best in Canadian Landscape Architecture Recognized

CSLA Awards of Excellence highlight innovative thinking in design and management of landscapes

OTTAWA, March 15, 2013 /CNW/ - Today, the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects (CSLA) announced the national winners of its annual Awards of Excellence. This year, 13 projects were recognized as being preeminent examples in Canadian landscape architecture, honouring distinctive design, groundbreaking research, sustainable landscape management and much more.

"These winning projects are a reminder that great design helps to build great communities," said CSLA president Claude Potvin. "These represent the range of what landscape architects do. They are helping to reshape university campuses; they are turning contaminated industrial lands into showcases of green design and innovation. They are revitalizing historic waterfronts and downtowns to protect heritage and encourage pedestrian and public use. They are shaping the places we want to live, work and play."

Winners were selected by a national jury of leading landscape architects. Awards are presented in three categories: Honour, Merit, and Citations. Honour Awards recipients demonstrate excellence in all judging criteria, Merit Awards in some criteria, and Citations in particular categories. The 2013 recipients are:
