Zip.ca Is Sending 250,000 Pink Envelopes for Breast Cancer Month
OTTAWA, Sept. 28 /CNW Telbec/ - Zip.ca and the Breast Cancer Society of Canada (BCSC) have teamed up to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research for the detection, prevention, and treatment of breast cancer, and to ultimately find a cure.
Every day across Canada, Zip.ca members look forward to seeing their red envelopes in their mailboxes bringing them the latest DVDs from their ZipList (their personal list of DVDs they want to watch). Recently however, they've noticed something different. The red envelopes they are used to seeing are now pink, a subtle difference that will hopefully have an impact in the fight against breast cancer.
The Pink Envelope Campaign started in mid-September and will run through October - Canada's breast cancer awareness month - to raise awareness and encourage Zip.ca members to take action. Printed on the back of each envelope is donation information for the BCSC, as well as the special promo code "BCSC". This code acts as a 'thank you' to Zip.ca members by offering a free month of service for their friends and family when they sign up. Each time this code is redeemed Zip.ca will make a donation to the BCSC. Hopefully, this will encourage Zip.ca members to spread the word, and increase their own impact without having to make a large personal donation.
Zip.ca CEO Curt Millar said - "We've always seen our members as a community of movie lovers that extends across the country from coast to coast. When we have an opportunity to help raise awareness for a cause as important as breast cancer, we do everything we can within our community to show our support. Our partnership with the Breast Cancer Society of Canada is a real source of pride at Zip.ca, and we're hoping that enthusiasm will spread throughout the rest of our community."
"The Breast Cancer Society is delighted to be able to partner with Zip in the Pink Envelope Campaign" says Executive Director, Marsha Davidson. "We truly believe that every dollar donated to breast cancer research takes us one step closer to finding a cure."
With 250,000 pink envelopes being mailed out to Zip.ca members over the coming weeks it gives people another way they can help contribute to the fight against breast cancer, especially if they don't have the time in their schedules to take part in some of the other awareness activities that take place throughout the year or if they are committed to the cause and just want to do more.
