Writers Guild of Canada Award nominee offers 'Guidance' to Season Two of Bite TV's hit comedy series

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 6, 2013 /CNW/ - Josh Gal, one of Canada's top TV writers known for his WGC Award nominated writing on the Oasis International distributed series, Rent-a-Goalie, will manage the writers room as consulting producer for the upcoming season of Guidance on Canada's Bite TV.

Currently in pre-production, Guidance is scheduled to begin shooting mid February. It will first be released on www.bite.ca and later on the distributor's television channel. Marcia Martin, Senior VP, Development at Bite TV, is producing the series.

Directed by Jared Sales and starring Adam Cawley, Patrick B. Smith and Rob Baker, the series follows the story of three hapless guidance counselors who attempt to guide their students, but their own personal issues get in the way.

"The guidance counselors try to force their insights on students," Gal said, adding the show is similar to BBC's The Office. "Problem is, the students are generally more worldly and mature than they are. For the upcoming season, it's my job to oversee the creative arc and story development for the series."

Martin said, "Josh brings a proven track record of working with comedic dialogue and characters that will greatly enhance our show. His experience and creative supervision on award winning comedies was a great benefit to us as we brought this series to life."

Previously, Gal story edited 11 episodes of Mr. D, a Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) half-hour hit that received two Canadian Comedy Award nominations and a Directors Guild of Canada Team Award nomination. Mr. D was nominated in January for Best Comedy Series at the newly formed Canadian Screen Awards.

Gal served as executive story editor for the Gemini winning Little Mosque on the Prairie, story editor on the Gemini winner Less Than Kind and senior story editor for the CBC's Gemini winning 18 to Life. Gal has written for The Dating Guy and on the acclaimed short comedy films A Gyro Full of Dollars and Career Day. He is now writing for the Teletoon series, The Day My Butt Went Psycho and on YTV's Oh No, it's an Alien Invasion.
