PETERBOROUGH, ON, Sept. 21 /CNW/ - WIND Mobile announced today that it will be creating up to 200 jobs over the next year in the City of Peterborough to staff its call centre.
The facility, located at 364 Water Street, and managed by Teleperformance, a leading call centre management company, will employ 40 Canadians initially but will grow as WIND Mobile expands its service offering across the country.
"We are proud to welcome WIND Mobile to the City of Peterborough," said Mayor Paul Ayotte. "Given the current economic climate, the announcement of the creation of these new jobs in Peterborough is very welcome news."
"As a new wireless company that is in the process of preparing for launch, I am thrilled that WIND Mobile has chosen our community and our people to help them build their business," said Dean Del Mastro, Member of Parliament for Peterborough.
WIND Mobile is Canada's newest wireless company with a staff of over 250 people in Canada and growing fast. Over the next 12 months, WIND Mobile is planning to create over 2,000 full-time jobs and will be investing over $1 billion in Canada - a significant amount given the current economy.
"The Greater Peterborough Area Economic Development Corporation was instrumental in helping us secure a suitable location in Peterborough," said Mike O'Connor, co-chair of Globalive Holdings, shareholder of GWMC. "We are thrilled to be a part of the Peterborough community and are looking forward to expanding our call centre capabilities here as we continue to expand our service offering across Canada."
WIND Mobile is committed to creating an exceptional customer service experience for Canadians which includes making a significant investment in its call centre staff through rigorous training. Training will be led by Graham Kingma, WIND Mobile's Head of Call Centre Operations, who will be working closely with Teleperformance to oversee operations and ensure that staff are prepared to represent the WIND Mobile brand when service launches later this year.
"We are very excited about the new launch of Wind Mobile in Canada and pleased that WIND chose Teleperformance as their outsourced partner. Together we will work as a single team focused on an exceptional customer experience," said Charlotte Gummesson, CEO Teleperformance Canada.
The Peterborough site will provide a full range of in-bound customer service activities for WIND Mobile.
