The AED is a small, portable electronic device that analyzes a person's
heart rhythm and delivers a necessary shock if it is irregular.
Mitchell Tepperman, York CPR's president, states, "Without an AED, the

extensive testing conducted on AEDs indicate that using an AED in
conjunction with CPR can increase the likelihood of saving an
individual's life during cardiac arrest by 75% or more.
