Airline to feature new section and promotions during home games
CALGARY, April 9, 2015 /CNW/ - WestJet announced today it has inked a
new major-league deal with the Toronto Blue Jays, ensuring the blue and
teal remain part of Canada's team through the 2019 baseball season.
Partners since 2012, WestJet and the Toronto Blue Jays will feature a
newly-branded fan area called the "WestJet Flight Deck" located
directly under the main video board in centrefield at Rogers Centre. As
in prior seasons, the standing-room-only area will be open to all Blue
Jays ticket holders who want to see the game from a different vantage
point, on a first-come, first-served basis.
"As the only professional Major League Baseball team in the country, the
Toronto Blue Jays have had a special place in the hearts of Canadians
for nearly 40 years," said Corey Evans, WestJet Manager, Sponsorship,
Community Investment and Experiential Marketing. "Renewing our
partnership with the Blue Jays allows us to take our guests and
baseball fans to a new level - the WestJet Flight Deck, where they'll
get a bird's-eye view of the action from one of the most unique areas
at Rogers Centre."
The five-year deal also includes an in-game feature entitled the
"WestJet Plus Suite" upgrade, where groups of between four and eight
spectators will be upgraded from the WestJet Flight Deck to a luxury
suite to watch the game and enjoy free food and beverages. Lucky
winners of this upgrade will also have the chance to sit in actual
WestJet Plus airline seats in the suite.
Members of WestJet Rewards and Blue Jays fans from across the country
will also be able to participate in a WestJet-sponsored national
contest. More details regarding the contest will be provided during the
