Leaders in Distribution Secure "Women of the Channel" and "Power 100" Recognition
TARRYTOWN, N.Y., June 9, 2014 /CNW/ - Westcon Group, a value-added distributor of category-leading unified communications, network infrastructure, data center and security solutions with a global network of specialty resellers, today announced Executive Vice President of North America Lynn S. Murphy – as well as Chief Marketing Officer Katie Dumala -- were singled out for excellence by CRN in the magazine's "Women of the Channel" issue. Murphy was also honored as one of the most influential women in the channel via the "Power 100".
The publication's annual list highlights significant achievements of female executives within vendor, distribution, and solution provider organizations. This year's "Women of the Channel" were chosen by the editors of CRN based on the impact they're having on the advancement of the IT channel industry as a whole.
As EVP of North America, Murphy is a key member of the company's Executive Leadership Team. She has been instrumental accelerating the distributor's North American line card, signing such vendors as FireEye, VocalCom, CA Technologies and SMART in 2013. Murphy is also executive lead and sponsor for the company's Women@Westcon initiative.
"We've built a leadership reputation in the channel based on the strength and diversity of our workforce and management. Bucking typical industry trends, Westcon boasts women in leadership that is significantly above the industry average," said Dolph Westerbos, Chief Executive Officer, Westcon Group. "But beyond diversity, Lynn and Katie truly embody our value proposition – helping partners succeed and build new revenue based on the innovative thinking and technology expertise our employees bring to the table."
Currently serving as Chief Marketing Officer, Dumala is tasked with global marketing strategy and messaging associated with Westcon Group's streamlined brand and Solution Practices. In her previous role as Vice President of North American Marketing Services, she successfully directed a range of large-scale corporate initiatives and events. Through her leadership, Westcon Group was able to successfully message the company's Security Solutions Practice and Canadian business.
"The CRN Women of the Channel have risen in the ranks of their organizations and are leaving their indelible mark on the technology channel. We celebrate their many contributions and the varied ways in which they help solution providers grow and thrive every day," said Robert Faletra, CEO, The Channel Company. "We congratulate these executives, and look forward to their continued success."
A special feature of the "Women of the Channel" appears in the June issue of CRN magazine and expanded coverage of "The 100 Most Powerful Women of the Channel" will be featured online at www.crn.com.
