TORONTO, June 3 /CNW/ - Volta Resources Inc. ("Volta" or the "Company") (TSX: VTR) announces the drill results from the next completed sections at its Kiaka Gold Project, located approximately 120 kilometres southeast of Ouagadougou, the capital city of Burkina Faso. To date, 113 holes (17,517.41 meters) have been drilled thereby completing the planned infill and extension drilling to be used to define a NI43-101 compliant resource at the Central Area at Kiaka. It should be emphasized that this infill drilling is limited to a vertical depth of 200 meters, whereas previous in-house drilling and estimates by Randgold for the same area extended to a vertical depth of 300m. Consequently, the company is aiming to convert approximately two thirds of the Randgold in-house estimates to NI43-101 compliant resource categories during the current phase.

So far results have been received for 94 holes from this area with the remainder expected shortly. This news release covers the latest 5 holes, three of which are located on Section 5800N and two on Section 5150N (See Figure 1). In addition six Randgold holes (labeled hereafter RRL) have been re-assayed on these sections. The highlights from this section include:

    - KRD85 : 142.0m @ 1.04g/t Au, incl. 9.0m @ 2.64g/t Au and
                       7.7m @ 2.07g/t Au
    - KKRC38 : 4.0m @ 2.30g/t Au
    - RRL_KDH13 : 60.0m @ 0.73g/t Au, incl. 7.0m @ 3.70g/t Au AND
                       8.0m @ 1.73g/t Au
    - RRL_KRC03 : 70.0m @ 0.87g/t Au, incl. 18.0m @ 1.55g/t Au
    - RRL_KRC04 : 82.0m @ 1.52g/t Au, incl. 7.0m @ 2.31g/t Au and
                      25.0m @ 2.15g/t Au
    - RRL_KRC05 : 15.0m @ 1.41g/t Au AND 37.0m @ 1.85g/t Au, incl.
                      12.0m @ 4.13g/t Au
    - KDH69 : 8.0m @ 1.18g/t Au
    - RRL_KKRC09 : 13.0m @ 0.94g/t Au, incl. 7m @ 1.41g/t Au.

Kevin Bullock, Volta's CEO, said, "Our infill drilling continues to intersect widths and grades exceeding our original expectations. In particular, we are very happy to have such robust results on the southernmost section we have yet drilled. Our drilling has demonstrated that Kiaka has the potential to expand significantly, but our immediate priority is to complete our maiden 43-101 resource estimate as a step toward moving Kiaka to a production decision."

Section 5150N is situated 50m south of Section 5200N (see News Release of May 10th, 2010). It extends the central mineralization a further 50m to the south. Section 5800N occurs 100m north of well-mineralized section 5700N (see News Release of April 31st, 2010). The holes on section 5800N have only intersected narrow mineralized intercepts. Structural interpretation of the data from the northern sections suggests that the KMZ mineralization may be displaced by more than 100m to the southeast across an easterly trending, north dipping fault. This would imply that the narrower mineralized intersections encountered in the holes drilled on Section 5800N so far are associated with the KHZ and KIZ zones. The company is currently drilling a hole on the eastern edge of Section 5750N in order to test this interpretation.

Results for the holes on section 5150N are highlighted in Table 1 below and on the section in Figure 2. The results for the holes on Section 5800N are presented in Table 2 and on the section in Figure 3. Analyses of the Volta samples were undertaken by fire assay on a 50g charge at ALS Chemex Laboratories in Ouagadougou. Volta's sampling and assay procedures included QA/QC elements that employed the inclusion of certified standards and blanks.

Notes on Tables 1 and 2:

    1) Intervals are core length. True width is unknown at this time.
    2) Intersections are based on a 0.3 g/t gold cut-off with maximum
internal dilution (MID) of 5m for the lower grade mineralization
        envelope.
    3) In order to highlight the continuity of the high grade zone, a
0.8 g/t gold cut-off with maximum internal dilution of 2m has been
used. No top cut has been applied.
    4) The intersections listed in the table represent sections of at least
3m in excess of 1g/t Au and/or sections of at least 10m in excess of
        0.5g/t Au.
    5) The intersections represent sections drilled by reverse circulation
(RC) and/or cored drilling (see Tables 3 and 4).
    6) The RC portions of the drill holes were sampled at 1-m intervals. Dry
samples were riffle-split to provide 2 kg samples sent to the
laboratory. Wet samples were dried in the field, then riffle-split in
the same way. The cored portion of the drill holes were sampled at
one metre intervals and cut in half using a diamond saw. Half-core is
archived at the core storage facility on site while the other half
        was sent to the laboratory.
    7) Samples were sent to ALS Chemex in Ouagadougou for standard
preparation followed by Fire Assay on a 50g charge.
    8) Certified standards were inserted every 15 samples, field duplicates
(in the RC portions) about every 20 and blanks about every 30
samples. The blanks, certified standards and duplicate assays confirm
that all assays used to compile the intersections quoted here have
        passed Volta's rigorous QA/QC checks.
    9) For the listed Randgold holes the re-assay values have been used.
Re-assays were performed on pulps or rejects of previously assayed
samples in exactly the same manner as for the Volta samples. Where,
occasionally, no re-assays were available, the Randgold assay values
have been used. The Randgold assay results are considered to be
        reliable and acceptable.

To date, assay results have been received for sections drilled between 5150N and 5800N and covering 650m of strike of the central portion of the Central Area. All sections between 5150N and 5700N are well mineralized and consistently include very wide intersections comprising discrete higher grade zones. Drilling has recently been completed on sections further south and north. Results are awaited and will be reported as soon as available.

Volta's current drill program has tested the 750m strike of the Central Area within the 2,800m long KMZ zone. The program in-filled and extended drilling on the Central Area such that the KMZ zone is drilled to 50m x 50m spacing from surface to a 150m vertical depth and 100m x 50m from 150m to 200m of vertical depth. Volta intends to finalize a maiden National Instrument 43-101 ("NI43-101") compliant resource before the end of June 2010.
