TORONTO, June 30 /CNW/ - The Hamilton, Ontario area has the LOTTO MAX touch, as two lucky residents were winners in recent LOTTO MAX draws.
Lynda LeBlanc, a 63-year old retiree, won second prize in the June 18 LOTTO MAX draw. She shares the prize with five other winning tickets from across Canada, all of whom will receive $409,012.
"I always play LOTTO MAX, because of the extra chances to win. It's my weekly game. I like the way that they did this game, allowing more people to win!" said LeBlanc, while at the Toronto Prize Centre to pick up her prize money.
In the June 25 draw, Waterdown resident, Michael Todd had the winning ticket for one of the 17 MAXMILLIONS prizes won in Ontario. Todd will split the $1 million prize with another winning ticket in the Windsor region, netting a total prize of $500,000.
"I just started playing the lottery a few weeks ago, because I heard about the big LOTTO MAX jackpot. I went to the gas station to fill up and asked a friend of mine to check my ticket on the self-scan machine. When he told me that I won, I told him that I thought he was lying!" said the smiling 25-year old electrician.
Todd has already got his eye on a new Camaro but says that he'll put the rest away.
"I'm hoping to be able to buy a house soon, so this will really help!" he said.
The 2nd place winning ticket was bought at Westcliff Home Hardware on Mohawk Road in Hamilton.
Since LOTTO MAX launched in September 2009, Ontario lottery players have won over $147 million in prizes, including three jackpot wins.
