Tut Mania Has Started... Public ticket on sale date marked by the reveal of a
26-foot Anubis statue

TORONTO, Sept. 16 /CNW/ - On Monday, September 21, 2009, AGO President Tony Gagliano inaugurates the launch of public ticket sales for the AGO's upcoming exhibition Tutankhamun: The Golden King and the Great Pharaohs.

To mark the occasion, a 26-foot, seven-ton statue of Anubis - the jackal-headed ancient Egyptian god of the underworld - will be lifted by crane into place at the corner of Dundas Street West and McCaul. A Canadian exclusive, Tutankhamun: The Golden King and the Great Pharaohs will run from November 24, 2009 through April 18, 2010. Public tickets go on sale Tuesday, September 22.

Joining Mr. Gagliano will be Mark Lach, senior vice president, Arts and Exhibitions International; Robert Baillie, president and CEO of The Northern Trust Company, Canada & Northern Trust Global Advisors; and Lindsay Oughtred, executive director of the Kids Up Front Foundation, for a special ticket donation announcement.

Tutankhamun: The Golden King and the Great Pharaohs is organized by the National Geographic Society, Arts and Exhibitions International and AEG Exhibitions with cooperation from the Egyptian Supreme Council of Antiquities. Northern Trust is a proud cultural partner and American Airlines is the official airline. Additional financial support is provided by the Government of Ontario.
