Tsi Nahoten Karihwanakere No'nenk - Local Resident Arrested During Olympic
Torch Relay Event

KAHNAWAKE, QC, Dec. 8 /CNW Telbec/ - 8, Tsothohrha - A local resident was taken into custody today during the Olympic Torch Relay event in Kahnawa:ke.

At approximately 12:14, the Kahnawa:ke Peacekeepers intervened after noticing a local resident approach the Olympic Flame bearer, with possible intentions of impeding the path of the procession, as it made its way along the Old Malone Highway.

The incident occurred just 9 minutes into the event, as the flame and procession neared its final destination.

"Our officers acted swiftly and prevented any possible disruption to this event," said Chief Peacekeeper Dwayne Zacharie. "The resident, identified as Stuart Myiow Jr. was taken into custody after officers were notified that Mr. Myiow had three (3) outstanding warrants for his arrest," added Zacharie.

No charges will be laid against Mr. Myiow in connection with the Olympic Torch Relay event. He was taken into custody and held on the outstanding warrants.
