TransUnion Canada Applauds Passage of New Identity Theft Act

<p><location>TORONTO</location>, <chron>Oct. 23</chron> /CNW/ -- TransUnion <location>Canada</location> today congratulated <person>Justice Minister Rob Nicholson</person>, the Government of <location>Canada</location> and all Parliamentarians for passing new provisions to the criminal code that would impose penalties on those who commit or are attempting to commit identity theft.</p>

<p>"We believe the new criminal code provisions provide law enforcement with the tools it needs to bring to justice those responsible for crimes of identity theft against Canadian citizens," stated <person>Ken Porter</person>, President of TransUnion <location>Canada</location>. <p>Bill S-4, An Act to Amend the Criminal Code (identity theft and related misconduct) received Royal Assent on <chron>October 21, 2009</chron>.</p>
