West End Mamas dedicates itself to helping women thrive throughout their motherhood journey
TORONTO, April 5, 2017 /CNW/ - Toronto's first one stop, multiservice perinatal wellness clinics has opened its door in the city's west end. The clinic, West End Mamas, represents the expansion of Chiropractor and Clinic Director Sarah Mickeler's previous clinic, Dr. Sarah & Associates, and fulfills her lifelong dream to create a community hub of support for new moms and moms to be.
Dr. Mickeler was compelled to open the clinic following patient feedback that finding qualified, caring health and wellness practitioners that catered to new moms was creating unnecessary struggles and stress at a time when mothers need the most support.
"I opened West End Mamas to make the self care journey easy and accessible," said Dr. Mickeler. "Patients found it difficult to travel all over the city for other qualified practitioners, and the continuity of care was completely absent."
The clinic brings together almost 30 perinatal professionals offering services including:
- Chiropractic Care
- Doula Services
- Individual and Couples Counselling
- Lactation & Breastfeeding Consultants
- Naturopathic Medicine
- Parent Coaching & Counseling
- Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy
- Placenta Encapsulation
- Postpartum Support
- Prenatal & Postpartum Doulas
- Registered Massage Therapy
"The entire concept of this practice came from my own experience as a mother, and from feedback from patients. I asked what kept them from accessing the care they needed, then broke down those barriers," continued Dr. Mickeler. "That's where details like stroller parking with loaner locks, on site child minding, and sound proofed rooms came in. Any mom in the community is welcome to drop into the clinic at any time for a cup of tea, a welcoming place to breastfeed, a healthy snack, or a chat. Community is at our core. "
In addition to professional health and wellness services, West End Mamas offer a variety of yoga and fitness classes, community events and workshops, including infant first aid, parenting classes, and a free breastfeeding cafe where new mama groups can learn about a variety of topics plus time for breastfeeding advice and support.
