Toronto Port Authority launches contest to name City Centre Airport ferry
vessels

TORONTO, Sept. 22 /CNW/ - The Toronto Port Authority (TPA) wants Torontonians to get involved in naming the ferries serving the Toronto City Centre Airport (TCCA). If your name is chosen, you could win great prizes courtesy of TPA.

A new, larger, more comfortable ferry will begin operating between the foot of Bathurst Street and the TCCA in early 2010, but does not yet have a name. The existing ferry, currently named the TCCA-1, will also be re-named with the help of contest participants.

"We're excited to bring all Torontonians into this process to produce vessel names that reflect the rich history and prosperous future of the harbour community," said Alan Paul, the TPA's Acting President and CEO.

Torontonians can enter at www.torontoport.com/nametheboats.asp, where they will also find the contest rules. You can also enter by email at nametheboats@torontoport.com (be sure to include your name, address, email, daytime telephone number and suggested names), or by entry form at the TCCA ferry terminal.

While each ferry will have its own distinct name, the TPA would like entrants to consider new monikers that are related, as these ferries are similar in design and purpose (Examples: The Pine and The Oak; or The Voyage and The Journey). More details can be found at www.torontoport.com/nametheboats.asp.

Prizes include a roundtrip airfare for two anywhere Porter Airlines flies and 10 tickets for you and your friends and family for a Toronto Harbour cruise.
