TORONTO, Sept. 9, 2015 /CNW/ - The Digital Finance Institute, a Canadian think tank, is leading the development of a Canadian ecosystem for financial innovation, FinTech and financial inclusion with "Digital Finance Toronto" – Toronto's 1st Conference on FinTech and Banking Innovation on September 30 in Toronto. The Conference will also host Canada's 1st FinTech Awards and bring experts together for a policy roundtable.
Supporting FinTech Ecosystem
"We're excited to hold a national FinTech Conference in Toronto following our sold-out Vancouver FinTech Conference," said Christine Duhaime, the Executive Director and Founder of the Digital Finance Institute, and a well-known banking lawyer from Toronto. "Developing a supportive ecosystem for entrepreneurs, innovators and financiers is critical to driving investment in FinTech to Canada as banks shift digitally, to ensure FinTech jobs remain and get created in Canada."
The Conference covers a range of topics from the future of money, bank innovation, blockchain technology and Bitcoin, anti-money laundering issues, financial inclusion and payment solutions for refugee and disaster relief. It targets venture capital firms, banks, innovation labs, entrepreneurs, financial technology companies, AML compliance teams, digital currency companies, startups, payment processors and government regulators.
FinTech for Refugee Aid
"We have a stellar lineup of leaders in FinTech and we also have an array of cutting edge topics like how artificial intelligence will shape our core commercial and financial investment functions and how we're developing FinTech to solve refugee payment problems from Canada in conflict zones," Ms. Duhaime said. "The refugee crisis is such a globally important topic – FinTech that can save lives – and we are pleased to include social impact financing as part of the dialogue."
Internet of Things Speaker from US
The two keynote speakers at Digital Finance Toronto are Gino Zucca, the Director of CISCO's "Internet of Things" in the US, who will talk about how Canadian businesses can build revenues from payments in a connected world. The second keynote speaker is Sam Maule, a leading FinTech speaker around the world who is consistently voted one of the "top innovation influencers" with Richard Branson and Bill Gates.
1st FinTech Awards & Global Roundtable
The Conference will also host a Pre-Conference Global FinTech Policy Roundtable at the Albany Club to work towards putting Canada on the FinTech map in a way that is inclusive of all sectors nationally and gives everyone a seat at the table. The Conference will also feature Canada's 1st FinTech Awards.
