Fresh City and Front Door Organics teaming up to distribute more local, organic food to the GTA.
TORONTO, April 27, 2016 /CNW/ - Fresh City and Front Door Organics (FDO), two of Toronto's top organic delivery companies, are teaming up to deliver more local food to the GTA.
The acquisition was announced on Monday – the combined businesses will operate under the Fresh City banner.
"Welcoming FDO customers to Fresh City means we can further enhance our service and get more local, clean food on GTA tables" said Goel. "That's something both companies are extremely passionate about."
Fresh City, a certified B Corp, farms in Toronto's Downsview Park and sources directly from over 80 farmers and makers across Ontario. Founded in 2011, they are the largest organic meal delivery company in Canada and deliver produce, groceries, recipe kits, salad jars and smoothies directly to homes and offices.
FDO, owned by Angela Donnelly and JJ Sheppard, was one of Toronto's first organic delivery companies. "FDO and Fresh City share a goal of empowering all to make conscious food choices," said Donnelly, "and we think the best way to achieve this is together."
A number of FDO employees will play key roles in the combined business, with Front Door Organics CEO Angela Donnelly taking on the role of CFO at Fresh City in May. "FDO has been a pioneer of the local food movement since 1997," said Donnelly. "We're excited to build on that and help advance the local food economy even further at Fresh City."
