Time to tell Christy Clark that it's game over, BCFED urges voters in new election ad

VANCOUVER, March 1, 2017 /CNW/ - The BC Federation of Labour says Premier Christy Clark has been playing working people long enough, and it's urging British Columbians to tell Clark that it's "game over" by electing a new government May 9.

The BCFED released this morning a new 30-second advertisement on social media. It casts Premier Clark as a video game character who racks up bonus point for photo ops and school closures while ignoring the needs of working people.

The ad ends with a call to action for the upcoming provincial election: "Christy Clark has been playing us long enough. On May 9, tell her it's game over."

BCFED President Irene Lanzinger says the video was made to illustrate that Clark acts out her role as Premier like it's a game in which she governs for the benefit of the powerful and wealthy at the expense of everyone else in the province.

"Good photo ops aren't a substitute for good government," says Lanzinger. "And unless we do something fast, BC is going to be a place where only the rich can live."

"Our wages are flat or going down and everything else is going up. Good jobs people can count on to support their families are disappearing. Our kids are having to leave to afford a home and raise a family. Hospitals, schools and public services are being cut. And government policies keep hundreds of thousands of British Columbians living in poverty."

She says blame for the situation in BC rests squarely with Clark and her government because of the choices they've made and whose side they are on.

"We can't afford four more years of Christy Clark making life even easier for her friends and harder for the rest of us. We need to elect a new government May 9."
