To apply to the RCMP you must:

  • Be a Canadian citizen,
  • Be of good character,
  • Be 19 years of age at the time of engagement (may apply at 18 years of age),
  • Be proficient in English and/or in French,
  • Possess a valid, unrestricted driver's licence,
  • Possess a Canadian secondary school (high school) diploma or the equivalent,
  • Meet the health and psychological standards (medical, vision, color and hearing),
  • Meet the necessary level of physical abilities,
  • Be prepared to carry a firearm and to use any necessary physical force,
  • Be willing to relocate anywhere within Canada,
  • Be willing to work shift work, including weekends and holidays.
