SAINTE-CATHERINE-DE-LA-JACQUES-CARTIER, QC, Jan. 4 /CNW Telbec/ - The Ice Hotel welcomes it's first visitors as well as the clients in overnight stay today. The 10th anniversary season of the Hôtel de Glace is officially launched and will run from January 4th to April 4th, 2010.
As every year the Hôtel de Glace opens for guests after completing the first of the three phases of work involved in its realization. People can see the Igloo, the Grand Hall and its stately chandelier, the Great Slide, the Ice Café, and 14 rooms and suites.
Completely redesigned and adopting the theme of Nordicity, the Hôtel de Glace is innovating by building an igloo that is unique in America and measures 7.6 meters high and 12 meters in diameter. Furthermore, the Great Ice Slide is bigger than ever! It is 9 meters high and 16 meters long, recalling the northern mountain ranges.
10 anniversary's special program
On January 21, enter the festive atmosphere of the Hotel de Glace and attend the Grand Opening, the inaugural event of its 10 anniversary. On the schedule: musical performances, activities, story telling, fireworks, fire eaters and many more.
- January 28 to 31: Ice Adventure;
- February 4 to 7: Nation of ice;
- February 11 to 14: Quebec's Nordicity;
- February11 to 7 March: Nordic Arts and Life Festival.
For the Grand Opening...
The second phase of construction, which involves the addition of 11 rooms and suites, will be delivered on January 11th. The third phase will be completed by finishing the ten remaining rooms and suites, the Ice Bar and the Chapel, all this for the inaugural night the 21st of January.
Until then, people can see the artisans as well as the ice and snow team at work in completing the Hôtel de Glace. "We want to show visitors how much work there is behind the Hôtel de Glace. Many people are intrigued by how the hotel is made, so they can see behind the scenes ", explains Jacques Desbois, CEO of the Hôtel de Glace.
