The Comox Valley Airport welcomes Richard Clarke to its Board of Directors
VANCOUVER ISLAND, Sept. 24, 2013 /CNW/ - The Comox Valley Airport Commission (CVAC) is pleased to confirm the appointment of Richard Clarke to its Board of Directors.
Richard brings more than 37 years of public sector experience with him to the Comox Valley Airport's Board of Directors. As a consultant specializing in public sector productivity and improvement, he brings valuable management and performance measurement insight to the board.
"Richard has an impressive resume with many years of senior management experience with the Government of Ontario," said Comox Valley Airport Commission Chair, Linda Oprica. "His commitment to volunteerism and his skills and knowledge in the areas of quality assurance, performance evaluation and human resources will be a beneficial addition the CVAC board."
"YQQ has a huge role to play in the economic and social development of the Comox Valley and the North Island," said Richard. "The airport's presence and performance is a key enabler for local residents and businesses wishing to compete in a global economy."
Richard serves on the boards of several national organizations including the Rotary Foundation of Canada, the Institute of Citizen Centered Services and the Canadian Landmine Foundation. He is also the current president of the Comox Valley's Dawn to Dawn homeless society.
Richard lives and works in Comox and says the presence of the airport was a key element in his own decision to locate his internationally focused consultant practice here.
Richard fills the Local Governments nominee vacancy, a position formerly held by Daryl McLouglin. His appointment was endorsed earlier this month and he attended his first board meeting on September 18.
The Comox Valley Airport Commission is the governing authority for the operation of the Comox Valley Airport. The nine-member Commission is broadly representative of the Comox Valley community and its members are nominated by the City of Courtenay, the Town of Comox, the Village of Cumberland, the Comox Valley Regional District, the Comox Valley Chamber of Commerce and the Comox Valley Economic Development Society. CVAC is a federally incorporated, not-for-profit entity. It was established through letters patent in 1996.
