GRACEFIELD, QC, Sept. 13 /CNW Telbec/ - The Liberal Party of Canada today held an important nomination assembly, during which Cindy Duncan McMillan was selected to represent the PLC(Q) in the riding of Pontiac in the next federal general election.
In the presence of hundreds of Liberal supporters, the Honourable Denis Coderre, Member of Parliament for Bourassa and the Liberal leader's Quebec Lieutenant officially confirmed the now-unanimous choice made by party members. Indeed, both Mr. Fergus and Mr. Lafontaine declared they were rallying behind the successful candidate and intended to campaign by his-her side towards celebrating a Liberal win in Pontiac.
"This bodes very well in view of the next federal election. The population of Pontiac now knows it can count on a representative and a team that are highly motivated to defend its interests as Canada prepares to take on the challenges it faces to return our country on the road to prosperity," Mr. Coderre said.
Liberal candidate Cindy Duncan McMillan for her part expressed gratefulness towards the citizens of Pontiac for the confidence they showed towards her. She promised to do everything in her power to work with her colleagues to help the region promote its priorities within a future Liberal government led by Michael Ignatieff.
