The Accessible Road now even more complete - Québec tourism and culture within everyone's reach

MONTRÉAL, June 10, 2015 /CNW Telbec/ - The Accessible Road is a magazine, a collection of inspiring videos, and a revamped and improved website that promote the top accessible establishments in 17 of Québec's tourist regions.

Québec puts a lot of effort into making its tourist sites more accessible to people with disabilities. Even though the province is big, there's no reason to limit the journeys of travellers with reduced mobility and prevent them from enjoying the countless natural and cultural treasures in Québec's different regions!

For this reason, Kéroul developed The Accessible Road, a compilation of more than 300 establishments and tourist sites whose accessibility to people with disabilities has been verified and certified, and whose staff has been trained to welcome them. The World Tourism Organization has even lauded this information tool for its originality, giving Kéroul its Ulysses Award in 2011.

In 2015, The Accessible Road is a magazine, a collection of inspiring videos, and a revamped and improved website that promote the top accessible establishments in 17 of Québec's tourist regions. Last year, Bas-Saint-Laurent and Gaspésie joined The Road. This year, the Kéroul team is evaluating Îles-de-la-Madeleine with a view to further enhancing the tourism offering for persons with restricted physical ability who want to visit Québec's beautiful regions! The Accessible Road features tourist and cultural attractions, hotels, bed and breakfasts, campgrounds, tourist information offices and restaurants. It also includes complementary businesses that tourists with disabilities need to get around, such as orthopedic services, specialized transit businesses and full-service gas stations.

The Accessible Road magazine was created to entice people to discover Québec in all its splendour, originality and, most of all, accessibility. The magazine presents two one-week tourist routes: a nature tour with camping, B&Bs and yurts, and a culture tour with luxury hotels. Other themes are also suggested, such as agrotourism, bike paths, the great outdoors, the St. Lawrence River and religious tourism. For a copy of the magazine, contact Kéroul at 514 252-3104 or infos@keroul.qc.ca.

The Accessible Road is an initiative of Kéroul, whose website, www.keroul.qc.ca, offers a search engine for accessible tourist sites and has, under the Services for travelers tab, information on free travel and admission for accompanying persons, personal assistance services, travel links, and a list of travel agents trained by Kéroul to meet the specific needs of persons with restricted physical ability.
