Tangerine busts a move at 2014 UNITY Festival

Annual event brings together talented hip-hop acts in celebration of youth engagement and positive change

TORONTO, July 26, 2014 /CNW/ - This weekend Tangerine is excited to be celebrating in style at the 2014 UNITY Festival in Toronto, a four-day event supporting UNITY Charity that showcases some of the most dedicated and talented youth performers from across Canada. Tangerine has been a proud sponsor of the UNITY Festival for four consecutive years, and has been a leading sponsor for the past two.

Following three amazing nights of beatboxing, breakdancing, and spoken word poetry, the festival will culminate on Saturday, July 26 with free performances at Yonge-Dundas Square. Tangerine employees will help kick things off with a hip-hop performance of their own followed by UNITY youth performers who will show them how it's done. Attendees will then be treated to performances by some of the most sought-after hip-hop entertainers including: BIZ MARKIE, RAZ FRESCO and AIRPLANE BOYS.

"UNITY is so proud to have Tangerine as our lead sponsor for the festival. Tangerine is more than just a sponsor, their team truly believes in our cause, and the youth in our programs feel this genuine connection," said Michael Prosserman, executive director at UNITY Charity. "We are excited to see the Tangerine staff perform at Yonge-Dundas Square. We honestly couldn't do what we do without their support. I feel like Tangerine has become part of the UNITY family because they truly represent and embody the UNITY values of respect, passion, integrity and community."

Saturday festivities will take place from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m., and attendees of all ages are invited to come down and join the fun. A variety of event supporters will also have booths set up in the area, including Tangerine, who will have a booth giving away orange juice in exchange for a donation to UNITY Charity.

"Tangerine is thrilled to align alongside UNITY Charity year after year for this unique and empowering festival that showcases the incredible talent of young Canadians," said Jacqueline Emes, community investment manager at Tangerine. "We're proud to support the objectives of UNITY as it makes a meaningful and lasting impact in the lives of local youth, which in turn positively impacts the whole community."
