A 5-speed manual transmission is standard on the Forester 2.5X Outdoor Package and Sport-tech. An electronically controlled 4-speed automatic transmission (4EAT SS), optimized to provide improved shifting and fuel economy, is available on those models and standard on the PZEV Outdoor Package.
