STYLISH WRISTS RAISE FUNDS FOR CANCER - Défi Canderel Introduces
Exclusive-Design Bracelets at Ogilvy
"Wear Them, Share Them…Support Défi Canderel!"
MONTREAL, Nov. 29 /CNW Telbec/ - Défi Canderel hopes everyone will wrap their wrists in its stylish, new accessory collection and help support its cause. Expanding its efforts to raise awareness and funds for cancer research, Défi Canderel is jumping on the international fashion trend of adorning the wrist with multi-colored 'good luck' bracelets that stand for something. Commissioned by costume jewelry shop Clio Blue, a first collection, limited edition featuring two new modish designs go on sale today exclusively at the Bleu Comme le Ciel counter in Ogilvy. Net proceeds of the sale of the bracelets, which retail from $75 to $185 go to Défi Canderel which donates funds to the Goodman Cancer Research Centre and the Institut du Cancer de Montréal.
"The renowned Défi Canderel corporate run that takes place downtown in May raises $350,000 annually," says Louise Lafleur van Noord, Executive Director of the Défi Canderel. "Although the Défi has consistently, for the past 22 years been a success, we were looking for new ways to increase our fundraising efforts throughout the rest of the year. When we noticed the fashion obsession throughout Europe of 'wearing your care' on your wrist with colorful friendship-type bracelets, we knew this was a perfect fit for us."
From an idea to reality, it wasn't long before Clio Blue, Montreal's upscale costume jewelry shop that imports from Paris took up the challenge to custom-design a few pieces that were on-trend and appealing. "These bracelets make an ideal gift for young and old, male and female," says Marie-Hélène Chartray owner of Clio Blue & Bleu Comme Le Ciel. "Everyone can wear them easily and with pride."
First to sport the new bracelets were various top-ranking athletes who jumped at the opportunity to show their support for Défi Canderel by becoming the faces of the new 'Stylish Wrists Raise Funds For Cancer' campaign, among them Charline Labonté, Rachel Riddell, Nathalie Lambert, Sylvie, Annie Pelletier, and Isabelle Charest.
The limited edition collection includes a cotton-rope bracelet featuring orange enamel and silver Défi-logo charm, retailing for $75 and a silver-dipped link bracelet with a removable orange enamel and silver Défi-logo charm, retailing for $185.
Other partners of the campaign include: Oakley and Browns who generously dressed the athletes.
