Statement from the Toronto Taxi Alliance (TTA)

TORONTO, Aug. 7, 2015 /CNW/ - Today the Toronto Taxi Alliance (TTA) released the following statement:

"On behalf of the Toronto taxi industry, we extend our deepest sympathies to the families and friends of Arielia Navarro-Fenoy during this difficult time. While the Toronto Police Service investigation is ongoing, we would like to reiterate the importance of safety and professionalism to our industry.

Taxicab drivers in Toronto are expected to adhere to all municipal by-laws and provide their customers with the highest standards of safety and professionalism. Refusing any fare simply because of expected price or distance is unlawful and is behaviour that all members of the TTA find unacceptable.

We will continue to strive to provide our customers with the highest standards of safety and professionalism."
