TORONTO, Sept. 24 /CNW Telbec/ - On Friday, October 16th, food entertainer Ted Reader, Anna Olson (pastry chef) and four associated renowned master chefs from Germany and Canada will turn the Palais Royale into a gourmet kitchen. Guests will be able to experience closely how a six course meal is created as TV cameras capture the preparation with detail while being projected on to big screens. With its "Culinary Cravings" event the Canadian German Chamber of Industry and Commerce adds a culinary flavour to Canadian-German relations.
"For us this event is a unique opportunity to get together as friends in the Palais Royale's Vibrant Kitchen and produce cutting edge creative cuisine, while interacting directly with our diners", says Anna Olson (Food Network Canada). Steffan Howard (Palais Royale, Toronto, Canada), Olaf Mertens (On the Curve, West 50 and the HIP, Mississauga, Canada), their German colleagues Christian Lohse (Bel Etage, Villa Vita Hotel, Marburg, Germany, 2 Michelin Stars) and Bernd Siener (Fischers Fritz, The Regent, Berlin, Germany, 1 Michelin Star) will present together with Ted Reader and Anna Olson an enjoyable exchange of Canadian and German culinary art. Olaf Mertens will host the evening together with Lynne Russel, Newstalk 1010 CFRB radio moderator.
Students of "Niagara College Culinary School" who are currently training as chefs will help to prepare the meals and will receive advice from the master chefs themselves. Part of the ticket earnings will be donated to the Canada Breast Cancer Foundation which has been promoting breast cancer research for more than 20 years. Revenues of the auction taking place during the event will be contributed to the Toronto German School and the Niagara College Culinary School.
