Speedy Corporation officially renamed as Prime CarCare Group Inc.

New organization designed to better leverage combined size and national presence of its wholly owned subsidiaries - Minute Muffler and Speedy Auto Service

TORONTO, Feb. 1 /CNW/ - Speedy Corporation and its wholly owned subsidiary Minute Corporation have amalgamated and been renamed Prime CarCare Group Inc., which will operate two of Canada's national automotive franchise systems namely, Speedy Auto Service and Minute Muffler. The name change announced today is intended to better leverage the combined size and national presence of the two complementary franchise networks, while representing both brands more accurately.

Prime CarCare Group Inc., a privately held and fully capitalized company, will continue to own and operate the five corporately owned and 66 franchised locations of Speedy Auto Service, most of which are situated in Eastern and Central Canada, as well as the 87 Minute Muffler franchised locations in the country's western provinces. Prime CarCare Group Inc. will continue to specialize in offering the very best while-you-wait service for all makes and models of cars, light trucks and SUV's, and focus on vehicle maintenance including oil, lube and filter services, muffler replacement, brakes, shock absorbers, struts and front end repairs as well as the sale of tires, and road safety inspections.

However, the introduction of Prime CarCare Group Inc. allows the organization to achieve cost efficiencies through the rationalization of management and process. It also allows the company to fully leverage the combined purchasing power of the two franchise networks," said David Lush, President and CEO, Prime CarCare Group Inc., Toronto. "Given the east- and west-weighted geographic distribution of the two franchises, the new structure allows us to create plans and strategies that are truly national in scope - something that will be good for all Canadians who value high quality service for their cars."

David Lush was appointed CEO this month, as Steven Goldman transitioned back to his prominent role within his private law practice at Goldman Hine LLP. Steven Goldman will continue to provide legal and franchise counsel to Prime CarCare Group Inc.

Lush added: "Along with the announcement of our new name, I am happy to also welcome Bob Gagnon to the Prime CarCare Group Inc. as its Vice President of Operations."

Bob Gagnon has over 30 years of experience in the automotive industry, on both the mechanical and managerial sides of the business. Having run his own Speedy Muffler King location in the early 1980s, Bob is keen to return to the brand. Bob has held the positions of Director of Operations and Director of HR, Senior Regional Manager Eastern Canada and most recently, Regional Director East for CARSTAR Automotive Inc.
