Slave Lake Walmart Supercentre Celebrates Grand Opening

SLAVE LAKE, AB, Nov. 3, 2016 /CNW/ - The newly remodeled Slave Lake Walmart, located at 601 - 1500 Main Street SW, will reopen to the community as a supercentre on November 3 with a broad assortment of fresh  groceries, general merchandise, and convenient services at Walmart's everyday low prices. Local officials and media are invited to attend the grand opening ceremony at 7 a.m. Doors will open to the public at 8 a.m.

One-stop shopping
"As a supercentre, our everyday low prices will remain the same, but our customers now have access to quality, fresh food, an improved grocery shopping experience and even more convenience," said Store Manager Daemon Santonne. "We're so excited to re-open the store as a supercentre in time for the holiday season and to celebrate this milestone with our customers and associates."

Customers can also enjoy on-site services and licensees such as a full-service pharmacy, photo kiosks and Western Union.

Added shopping convenience
The Walmart mobile app for iPhone and Android makes shopping at Walmart.ca easier and faster than ever. Customers can create shopping lists, check weekly ads and prices, and shop Walmart.ca through the app.

New jobs
Daemon Santonne is excited to lead the Slave Lake Walmart Supercentre team as the store manager. Santonne has worked in retail for more than 15 years.

With the conversion adding more than 30 new positions, the remodeled store now employs 140 full- and part-time associates. Applicants interested in careers at Walmart can apply at www.walmart.ca/careers.

Community giving
As part of Walmart's mission to support Canadian families in need, thousands of dollars in donations will be presented to community organizations.

Commitment to sustainability
Walmart continues to show its responsibility to energy efficiency, renewable energy and environmental sustainability. The store features LED exterior signage, waste diversion streams including paper and plastic and sells environmentally-preferable products. More recently, the company stopped providing free plastic bags to customers in Alberta in an effort to promote the use of reusable bags and ultimately eliminate plastic film from landfills.

A big welcome
Grand opening festivities will continue on Saturday, November 5. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., customers can enjoy live music, fun activities and samples.
