VANCOUVER, Jan. 13 /CNW/ - Vancouver's groundbreaking new radio station SHORE 104 has been making waves in the marketplace, attracting a fervently loyal audience for its brand of Roots, Rock & Rhythm. As the latest step in its evolution, the station today announced an improvement in the strength and clarity of its signal which will now stretch well beyond the Greater Vancouver Area to cover even more of the lower mainland and a significant portion of Vancouver Island. This will amount to a 25% increase in overall power.
Location, location, location.....the key to the station's dramatically improved presence is it's move from 104.1 to 104.3 on the dial. This change will take place Thursday January 14th at 7:30am. The new location avoids any interference from U.S. signals and makes for smooth sailing throughout the target areas of B.C. The transition came about through a unique international agreement with KAFE-FM in Bellingham, effectively allowing the two stations to trade frequencies.
As a gesture of goodwill, the morning team from Shore 104 will be meeting with their friends from the south on Jan.14 in Peace Arch Park for a ceremonial exchange of larger than life size numbers....a ".1" draped in a U.S. flag and a ".3" adorned in the Maple Leaf. Catering to specific requests from his Yankee peers, SHORE 104 morning man Steve Dunbar will be carrying a basket of goodies which include ketchup chips and Coffee Crisp bars ..... delicacies not available in the U.S. Steve and Colleen are also including some Olympic mittens in preparation for their trek to the games next month. In response to the festivities, Steve was quoted as saying "we thought we'd be charitable now considering the beating our Canadian Olympic Team is about to hand them."
The move to 104.3 is yet one more way in which SHORE 104 is working to strengthen listeners' choices in Vancouver. Look for Shore 104's numbers to go up as of January 14th.
Stay tuned.....SHORE 104 will be up to some very exciting things in the months to come.
