Shop Local Week - Toronto Association of Business Improvement Areas

TORONTO, Dec. 7 /CNW/ - David Miller, Mayor, City of Toronto, has declared the week of December 7th to 14th as "Shop Local Week." Mayor Miller stands behind the efforts of TABIA-Toronto Association of Business Improvement Areas in making this announcement and in giving recognition to the importance of small business as the driving force behind the economic recovery process for the City of Toronto.

With the holiday shopping time of the year upon us it is important for all citizens to realize the value and services provided by our local retailers all year long. By residents patronizing their local neighbourhood shops and businesses for holiday purchases it helps to keep these small businesses alive to continue to provide our neighbourhoods with local conveniences.

The "Shop Local Week" will have a tremendous economic impact on all of Toronto's local areas and neighbourhoods. During this week, millions of dollars will be spent with merchants across the city driving the economic turn-around that is desired by all citizens. By encouraging spending at the local level and in the local shops the Mayor plans to give hope and success to all people in this great City of Toronto.
