(TSX: SCC) has won the 2010 ENERGY STAR(R) Retailer of the Year award for the third consecutive year - the fourth such win for the Company since the Award's inception in 2003. Sears Canada won the prestigious ENERGY STAR Award in 2003, 2008, 2009 and now 2010 - making it the only Canadian retailer to receive this honour four times.

In order to qualify for the ENERGY STAR designation, products must be tested according to prescribed procedures and have been found to meet or exceed higher energy efficiency levels without compromising performance.
Sears carries the most comprehensive selection of ENERGY STAR qualified products and services in the following categories:
- Major appliances: refrigerators, freezers, clothes washers,
dishwashers and dehumidifiers
- Home electronics: televisions, laptop computers, DVD players and
- Lighting products: CFL bulbs, residential fixtures, decorative light
strings, and ceiling fans
- Heating, cooling and ventilation equipment: window air conditioners,
central air conditioners, dehumidifiers, air purifiers, tankless
water heaters, heat pumps and HRVs
- Exterior windows and doors
Sears recently developed its Cost and Carbon Savings Calculator which is available online to help customers to see the financial and environmental benefit of switching to ENERGY STAR qualified products and services.
ENERGY STAR-qualified products feature prominently in the weekly Sears flyers distributed to households across Canada. Sears educates its customers about the benefits of purchasing ENERGY STAR qualified products and services through its Live Green program, which provides Canadians with environmentally-friendly solutions in three categories: Renewable Resources, Use Less Power and Healthy Home.
