Rocco Rossi campaign hits $1 million mark
TORONTO, June 18 /CNW/ - The fundraising campaign to elect Rocco Rossi Mayor of Toronto has reached $1-million.
"I'm grateful and humbled that the people of Toronto have responded to my message for change in such an enthusiastic way," said Rossi, the son of Italian immigrants who was raised in the east end of Toronto. "It's an incredible beginning."
The election for Mayor takes place on October 25th.
Rossi is the first candidate to announce reaching the $1-million mark.
Under Toronto election rules, financial donations can only be accepted from individuals who reside in Ontario. Unions and corporations aren't permitted to donate. Donations to the Rocco Rossi campaign have ranged from $50 to $2,500.
A fundraising dinner for the Rocco Rossi campaign will take place on Wednesday, June 23 at the 'On the Park Events Centre', 1095 Leslie Street. Rossi will speak on his plan for a better Toronto at the event.
