Recognizing public sector financial management excellence

TORONTO, Nov. 20, 2015 /CNW/ - Nominations are open for the Awards of Excellence in Public Sector Financial Management, presented annually by Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada (CPA Canada).

"Nominating a worthy team or individual for these awards speaks volumes about the value placed on strong stewardship of taxpayer dollars," says Kevin Dancey, president and CEO, CPA Canada. "All Canadians are stakeholders when it comes to the federal government's finances. Outstanding efforts on our collective behalf deserve our attention and appreciation."

The awards celebrate innovative thinking, leadership and exemplary delivery of financial management services that lead to higher productivity and/or cost savings. Beyond recognition, the awards provide an opportunity to promote and share best practices in this important field.

The award categories are:

  • Innovation
  • Financial Leadership (CFO)
  • Lifetime Achievement

Nominations can be submitted by any person within the Government of Canada, as well as the general public. They are being accepted until February 19, 2016.

An independent selection committee comprised of senior public servants and industry experts will determine the winners.
