2017 Milk Calendar Celebrates Canada's 150th Anniversary with a
"How Far We've Come" Look Back at Family Favourite Recipes

MISSISSAUGA, ON, Nov. 15, 2016 /CNW/ - For decades, Milk Calendar recipes have been a staple in many Canadian homes.  Whether mid-week meals or additions to special occasion menus, these recipes have helped busy parents raise healthy families.  With its 40th edition, the 2017 Milk Calendar offers a modern twist on classic favourites, including a meatloaf makeover and a Tiramisu inspired cupcake. Themed around a "How far we've come" concept, the 2017 recipes also incorporate a focus on updating traditional recipes with modern flavour combinations, a variety of produce and dairy products.

The much-anticipated 2017 Milk Calendar will be available starting November 19, 2017, and distributed for free to almost 1.7 million homes across Atlantic Canada and Ontario.

Heather Trim, accomplished Ontario food writer and recipe developer, has created 19 delicious and wholesome recipes for the 2017 Milk Calendar that incorporate the goodness of milk, by including at least a cup of milk in each recipe, and which can be ready in 45 minutes or less. Easy-to-follow instructions, cooking tips, nutritional analysis and ingredient options are also included, and each meal is made with 100% Canadian milk, ensuring that Canadians receive their recommended daily servings of milk and dairy products, as recommended by Canada's Food Guide to Healthy Eating.***

"A great addition to many recipes, milk adds texture, taste and a nutritional punch," says Trim. "These recipes, once again, are healthy, nutritious, cover all four food groups and are fun to make; and a perfect solution for parents-on-the-go who need to whip up a quick, delicious dinner for their families and are kid-tested for success."

The wide variety of recipes are all delicious and easy-to-make, including Festive Fruit & Hazelnut Stuffing, Smoked Salmon Pasta Primavera, a classic twist on Eggs Benedict and many more recipes that are sure to tempt your taste buds. Canada's 150th Birthday is highlighted within this year's calendar which includes a 2-page feature on PEI's Crasdale Farm, a picturesque property that has been farmed by the same family for over 150 years. Another highlight is a special Apple Berry Cobbler recipe that would be perfect at any July 1st celebration.

As with every edition of the Milk Calendar, each month features a recipe, as well as additional baking recipes and tips on cheese pairings. Important holidays and occasions are prominently displayed, with French translations of each monthly recipe located on the last two pages of the calendar.

All Milk Calendar recipes since 1974 are available at MilkCalendar.ca, where there are now 121 Milk Calendar recipe videos also available for viewing on the site.
