TORONTO, Sept. 13, 2017 /CNW/ - Ramp Communications Inc. (Ramp) is recognized as one of the top B Corporations in the world based on its positive impact on employees. The Toronto-based marketing agency specializes in the social profit and healthcare sectors and is among the top 10 per cent of more than 2,100 Certified B Corporations in the Workers category of the B Impact Assessment. The assessment measures a company's impact on its workers, community, customers and the environment through a comprehensive and independent review administered by the non-profit B Lab.
"We've been working hard since the inception of Ramp to create a positive workplace culture that truly inspires our team to bring their full talent and passion to work every day," said Shelley Mayer, president and founder of Ramp. "Our core values of integrity, passion, creativity, collaboration, accountability, thoughtfulness and growth are the foundation of this success," she added. "It is a great honour to be formally recognized by B Lab for this accomplishment."
The Workers section of the B Impact Assessment measures a company's relationship with its workforce. It assesses how the company treats its staff through compensation, benefits, training and ownership opportunities. The category also focuses on the overall work environment by assessing management/worker communication, job flexibility, corporate culture, and worker health and safety practices. Honorees scoring in the top 10 per cent set a gold standard for the high impact that using business as a force for good can make on employees. Ramp earned its place on the list thanks to its exceptional practices regarding community service, work-life balance and professional development.
The 148 Best for Workers companies come from 61 different industries and 21 countries. B Lab simultaneously released separate lists recognizing B Corporations as Best for the World (overall impact), Best for the Environment, Best for Customers, Best for the Long Term, Best for Community and Best for the World: Changemakers, which have been published at http://www.bthechange.com.
"Companies like Ramp are setting a new standard for creating positive impact for employees through their business," says Jay Coen Gilbert, co-founder of B Lab. "We're proud to shine a light on their achievement. Best for the World is the only list of businesses making the greatest positive impact that uses comprehensive, comparable, third-party-validated data about a company's social and environmental performance."
A total of 846 Certified B Corporations were named 2017 Best for the World Honorees, including: Patagonia; Seventh Generation; National Co+op Grocers; and Business Development Bank of Canada. Forty-eight countries are represented, including Afghanistan, Kenya, Nicaragua and Turkey. The selection criteria for Best for the World honorees are available at http://bit.ly/29ZYRSp.
