MONTREAL, March 27, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - The 12th edition of the 2012 Leucan Shaved Head Challenge, presented by Jean Coutu, kicked off today at Espace culturel Georges-Émile-Lapalme of Place des Arts. For the occasion, Leucan, the Association for children with cancer, presented a flash mob featuring musicians from Orchestre symphonique de Montréal and children from École Paul-Bruchési.
«We are proud to act on behalf of the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal which has been a corporate partner of the Shaved Head Challenge for five years now - supporting the cause of children with cancer, said Stéphane Lévesque, bassoon player and musicians' spokeperson. Moreover, some of my colleagues are planning on participating in the Shaved Head Challenge Leucan this year again. Join us! »
The Association took this unique opportunity to unveil exclusively the long version of the new Leucan Shaved Head Challenge TV advertising created by TAXI and directed by Jean-Marc Vallée, the Quebec director and scriptwriter behind C.R.A.Z.Y., The Young Victoria (produced by Martin Scorsese), and Café de Flore. « We want to touch people and it's gratifying to see that our work helps Leucan's great family », explains Alexandre Gadoua, Creative Director, TAXI Montréal.
For the first time this year, over 50,000 participants will take on the Leucan Shaved Head Challenge and get their head shaved to show their solidarity with cancer-stricken children. What's more, the event can count on the support of a new provincial spokesperson, stand-up comedian Dominic Paquet. « Last summer, my fabulous silver mane fell under the razor in solidarity with cancer-stricken children. Today, I'm getting involved to urge you to participate. Follow my lead and put a price on your head for Leucan's children. You can also help by supporting a friend, a colleague or a family member. Whatever you choose to do, you are sure to realise that your head is worth more than you think! », he says.
Sign up: More than 50 shaving sites will experience the Challenge, simultaneously in most cases, on Sunday, May 27, 2012, in addition to the group challenges organized throughout the year in companies, educational institutions, and organizations. Support: Support a participant in their fundraising effort. Share: Be part of a growing wave of solidarity by following the Leucan Shaved Head Challenge on Facebook and Twitter.
