/R E P E A T -- Video B-Roll available via CNW - Video Status Update:
Preparing the NRU Reactor Vessel for Repair/

CHALK RIVER, ON, Oct. 28 /CNW/ - The following B-Roll is available by Broadcast On-Demand web download:

STORY SUMMARY:

In accordance with Atomic Energy of Canada Limited's (AECL) commitment to providing regular communications updates on the status of the National Research Universal (NRU) Reactor Return to Service Plan, AECL releases the following video status update of activities underway at Chalk River Laboratories.

Video: AECL's Return to Service Project Director, David Cox provides viewers with an overview of the complex work that has been completed to date on the NRU reactor vessel including the inspections as well as the new tools being used to clean the inside of the reactor vessel. The cleaning tool developed by AECL is integral to ensuring the reactor is ready to receive the weld build up repair. Cox explains that AECL is on the cusp of moving into the repair stage of the project, due largely to the speed at which the cleaning tool development was done. From concept to construction, the cleaning process has been carried out in record time in order to return the NRU to service in the first quarter of 2010.
