/R E P E A T -- Video B-Roll available via CNW - Video Status Update: AECL
partners with industry expert to develop NRU cleaning tool/

MISSISSAUGA, ON, Oct. 14 /CNW/ - The following B-Roll is available by Broadcast On-Demand web download:

STORY SUMMARY: In accordance with Atomic Energy of Canada Limited's (AECL) commitment to providing regular communications updates on the status of the National Research Universal (NRU) Reactor Return to Service Plan, AECL releases the following video highlighting the cleaning tools developed in partnership with Promation Nuclear of Mississauga, Ontario.

Video: In this video, Ted Moryto, AECL Project Leader (Tools) and Dave Morikawa, General Manager Engineering, Promation Nuclear, take viewers to the shop floor to see how both companies worked together to design and manufacture innovative tools for cleaning the inside and outside of the NRU vessel wall in preparation for the repair to the reactor vessel. Ted and Dave explain that removing the debris will allow for a better quality weld once the repair technique is applied and will prepare the vessel walls for other activities designed to enhance the lifespan of the NRU reactor. By integrating the expertise of both companies, AECL and Promation have successfully managed in just a few short weeks to design, build and deploy a complex, remote tool, that under normal circumstances, would take upwards of a year to develop.
