WINNIPEG, Dec. 30 /CNW/ - The Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (VANOC) will hold a news conference in Winnipeg, MB, on Monday, January 4 to unveil the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Truce Northern Outreach Project. The project, the latest initiative in VANOC's Olympic Truce Program, will deliver Olympic Spirit Boxes filled with donated sporting goods for young athletes in some of Canada's most remote communities.
The sporting equipment has been donated by Nike, the official high performance sporting goods manufacturer for the 2010 Winter Games, while the National Hockey League's Vancouver Canucks, Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames have provided hockey sticks.
